The EnviroKirn logo is courtesy of a winning design from Hayley Louise MacFarlane & Becky Shirley both former pupils at Dunoon Grammar School. Can anyone tell us how these two ladies are getting on?

                      Kirn Information Point

The Information Board was destroyed by severe weather conditions in January 2011.

Kirn village is situated on the Cowal Peninsula on the Clyde Estuary and in the Region of Argyll & Bute with a population of approximately 1,500. Kirn is located 1 mile to the north of Cowal’s capital, Dunoon and, 1 mile south of Hunter’s Quay. Both of these locations are served by two frequent “20 minute crossing” ferry services.

A ‘passenger only’ service is provided to Dunoon by the “Argyll Flyer” ferry from Gourock, allowing easy access to and from the Central belt and Glasgow Airport and rail connections.  A vehicular ferry service is provided by “Western Ferries” and sails across the Clyde Estuary from Hunters Quay to McInroys Point providing three crossings an hour and four during peak times.

These ferry terminals provide the South West gateway to Scotland’s first National Park, Kirn will once more be on the tourist trail.
