Newsletter October 2003

Dear Resident of Kirn,

The committee of EnviroKirn Action Group are sure you will agree that our village has benefited from its efforts over the last four years. This year we were rewarded by the good news that Kirn had won through to the finals of the Large Village category in the "Scotland in Bloom" competition. Projects completed to date are listed overleaf, and in order to carry out these projects, money has been raised through grant funding and donations, both in kind and monetary.

Our benefactors to date include local organisations, local businesses, local residents, grants from trust funds, the local authority and other national fundraising bodies. We have also been fortunate in receiving assistance from individuals outwith Kirn.

It has been suggested to us that villagers would welcome the opportunity to contribute on a more personal basis in order to maintain and improve the existing projects and floral displays, and to assist with future projects. Therefore the committee wish to set up "Friends of Kirn", and are asking every household and business to contribute £5 per annum. If this is successful it means we would have a regular reliable income which would effectively help us to pursue our objective of making Kirn more attractive, thereby improving the quality of life for residents, business proprietors and visitors.

Thanking you in anticipation,

Yours sincerely,

John Glass,

Chairman
